Reclaim The Kitchen

I’ll be honest—I didn’t feel up to doing much this week. I’ve been dealing with a shoulder and arm issue, and after working full-time, the last thing I wanted to do was clean anything.

But the mess was getting to me. The kitchen counters especially.

So I took my own advice from the 7-Day Home Reset and decided to focus on just that: the surfaces. Nothing more, nothing fancy.

And you know what?
It helped. A lot.

What I Did:

  • Cleared off the counters (wiped down every surface)

  • Put away the random clutter that had piled up (papers, bags, mugs…)

  • Gave the appliances a good wipe-down—fridge doors, stovetop, toaster

  • Sprayed the sink and shined it up (always makes it feel fresh again)

Nothing over-the-top. But the difference it made? Instant.

Why It Works

You don’t need to organize your pantry or deep-clean the oven to feel better in your kitchen. Just giving yourself clear surfaces and a little shine can feel like a win. Like you’ve taken back control.

A Quick Tip

If your counters are a drop zone (like mine tend to be), set a timer for 10 minutes and clear just one corner. Wipe it, style it, and enjoy it. That little bit of beauty will motivate you to keep going.
