life’s simple pleasures- 5 little luxuries
Let’s face it—life can feel chaotic, and most days we’re being pulled in a dozen different directions. That’s why it’s so important to slow down every now and then and enjoy a few simple luxuries.
These little comforts aren’t expensive or fancy—they’re thoughtful choices that bring a little peace and joy. Here are five I come back to again and again:
Fresh Flowers
I am a flower person; I love fresh flowers. When I was younger and living on a tight budget, I recall having to choose between flowers and a magazine I wanted to read! Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite places to get flowers. They have a great selection and are super affordable, too! Flowers instantly brighten a room — and my mood. If you want something that lasts longer, a pretty flowering houseplant is a beautiful way to bring life into your space. Plus, they help purify the air and create a sense of calm.
Candles or Oils
Scent is powerful. I love candles that smell like Anthropologie (you know the one!), but if candles aren’t your thing, try a diffuser with your favorite essential oils. Scents like lavender, bergamot, or citrus are instant mood-lifters.
Hot Bath
A good soak in a hot bath with Epsom salts, a candle, and a good book is one of my favorite ways to unwind, especially after a full day of mom-ing, working, or home-resetting. I have made bath salts as gifts, so easy, and people love them.
Favorite Meal
Whether it’s a dish from your childhood or something in your current dinner rotation, cooking a comfort meal can feel like an act of care. Set the table with the “good” dishes, a cloth napkin, maybe those candle holders you got as a gift. These little details turn an everyday dinner into a little luxury. If you already do this—kudos to you. Dinner goals!
Staying In
One of my favorite resets is a cozy night in with a show I love, a soft throw, and a cup of tea (or a glass of wine). Oh, and don’t forget the comfy sweats! Sometimes you need a little downtime to reset. Truthfully, this is my favorite in winter, but I’ll take it any time.
What’s your favorite little luxury? Which one will you try this week?
Much love,
Susan
